God Heals Daniel
Ten-year-old Daniel Hjortursson (hee-OR-toor-son) from Iceland suffered
terribly from allergies. He was allergic to all kinds of animals. He was allergic
to citrus juices, like orange juice and grapefruit juice. He was allergic to many
kinds of foods. He was even allergic to grass.
But his allergies with animals were the worst. If he was in a room with
animals, he would begin to swell up and could not breathe. This would happen
even if he was in a room where animals had once been. He would break out in
hives and sores, and would not sleep well because of his symptoms.
Often the sores were so bad they would bleed. Daniel had to use creams and
ointment for his skin to keep the sores from bleeding. Doctors had tried many
different medications over the years to no avail. Daniel continued to suffer.
Daniel’s mother and father began praying and asking God to help their little
son. One evening a crusade was being held. Without any prompting from his
parents, Daniel went forward by himself. He asked God to heal him.
A few days later, Daniel was invited to a friend’s house. Daniel did not know
this friend had a cat, so he went. The two boys played together all day, then
Daniel stayed overnight. The cat slept in the bed next to them.
In the morning when Daniel woke up, he continued to play with his friend.
When Daniel came home later that day, he told his parents about all the fun he
had. And he told them about the cat.
Daniel’s mother was shocked. Daniel was not swollen. He had not broken out
into hives. He wasn’t having any trouble breathing. His parents asked him again about the cat and about how he felt. Daniel assured them that he felt fine.
A few weeks later, Daniel’s family received a tiny rabbit as a gift for Easter.
Daniel was able to pet the rabbit without suffering any allergic symptoms.
Since then, Daniel has gotten a dog. He even went to the country during the
summer to help in the sheep round up. His mother said that Daniel helped
work in the barn around all the animals.
Daniel has been tested by the doctors. He amazed the doctors with his
testimony of how God has healed him and given him a rabbit and a dog.
Now Daniel sleeps each night with the dog by his side.
