But God, That's a Lot of Money

"But God, that's a lot of money," said a little boy named Joshua Keck from Colchester, Illinois. Josh had asked God how much money He wanted him to give to BGMC as a faith promise for the year. God told Josh to pledge $1,000. That's a lot of money for a seven-year-old, but God said he could do it.

Several kids made fun of Josh, saying it was silly to think he could do that much for God. But Josh knew that he could do anything with God's help. He made his faith promise and then God began to move.

Josh worked and worked. He sold stuff and washed cars. He wrote to people he knew and asked them if they would be willing to help with his pledge. Money began to come in. Josh earned more money and worked harder. Eventually Josh had raised over $800. Then a friend of the family donated some windows. "Let's take them to the auction," Josh's dad said. "Maybe someone will buy them, and we can use the extra money towards your faith promise." Upon dropping the windows off at the auction, the dad told the auctioneer, "Get whatever you can for these. My boys are earning money for missions." The auctioneer heard the whole story and related it to the crowd. Well, over the $200 needed came in to help Josh meet his goal. As a result of this and all his hard work, Josh gave over $1,000 to BGMC that year. This all happened because a boy prayed and told God he was willing, and then followed God's voice.
