Missions Nugget: "Spiritual Eyes"

David Boyd, national director, BGMC

The other day, a children’s pastor at a large church said that God had opened his eyes. He thought that teaching kids about missions and raising missions dollars was one of many things he had to do. God told him it was THE thing he was to do.

Taking Christian kids and discipling them in the Great Commission was to be his number one task.
I thought of that as I read Matthew 6:22. “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole heart will be good.” This children’s pastor needed to see that missions was the great assignment of us all. One verse earlier states, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Two verses later it says, “You cannot serve both God and money.”

God wants us to raise up a generation of kids who have “spiritual eyes”—eyes that can see the lost people of the world. He wants them to have hearts willing to pour out their treasure into the lost of the world.

It’s happening. Now this children’s pastor is reporting that kids in his church are being called to missions!

Now let’s go and make a difference.
