In 1999, the national office of the Assemblies of God formed the national Children’s Ministries Agency with BGMC becoming a part of this agency. David and Mary Boyd were asked to lead this newly formed agency. David served as the national CMA and BGMC director, and Mary served as the national BGMC coordinator. In 2007, BGMC became its own department with David as the national director for BGMC and Mary remaining the National BGMC Coordinator. Prior to 1999, the Boyds were full-time children’s pastors in three great churches for 17 years. Most recently, they were in Fort Myers, Florida with Pastor Dan Betzer.

In 2018, David was appointed the co-director of the national Children’s Ministries department of the Assemblies of God along with Mark Entzminger. In 2017, David published the book, “Strong Enough to Last” which highlights the eight goals of children’s ministries for the Assemblies of God. In 2019, that book was published in Spanish.

David and Mary are both graduates of North Central University. David has a B.S. in Pastoral Studies. Mary has a B.S. in Christian Education and an A.A. in Early Childhood Education. Both David and Mary also have their Master of Arts degrees in Theological Studies from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.

All the children’s ministries programs under the Boyd’s supervision saw incredible growth. They have had as many as 320 volunteer workers under them at one time while staffing over 90 children’s classes per week.

The main focus now for David and Mary is instilling a heart of compassion for missions in kids. They believe that kids can make a difference in the world through praying, giving, and being willing to go. Kids can be challenged to pray for missionaries, countries, and people groups. Kids can be challenged to sacrifice for missions so missionaries can have the supplies they need and the needs of those less fortunate met. Kids can also be challenged to keep their hearts open to the call of God to be missionaries.

The Boyds use puppets, characters, skits, gospel illusions, object lessons, ventriloquism, PowerPoint presentations, and more to present the gospel in creative ways. They also have a deep desire to see kids filled with the Holy Spirit and have a deep walk and ministry with the Lord. The Boyds desire to see kids so spiritually strong that they will live for God their entire lives.

David and Mary have authored 20 children’s ministries resource manuals on such topics as games, illusions, classroom discipline, clowning, skits, and materials on leading kids into the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Their manuals have been translated into several languages around the world including Spanish, Russian, Arabic, French, Thai, and Romanian.

The Boyds have been guest speakers at numerous conventions, retreats, camps, Pow-Wows, Powettes, and other children’s ministry endeavors both here in the U. S. and around the world. They have a big heart for missions, training teachers, and touching the lives of kids. David and Mary have also been to numerous countries in Asia, Africa, South America, Eurasia, and Europe teaching and training others in children’s ministries.
