Ciao (hello) and pace (peace) from your missionaries to Italy! We live in Rome, which is the capital city. It’s a large city filled with many old buildings, including the Coliseum and the Roman Forum, which was considered the marketplace as well as the center of government and public life. In Rome you’ll also find the Appian Way, a 2,000 year old road where chariots, horses, and people from the Bible once walked. The Apostles Paul and Peter were both martyred in Rome.
Rome is called the Eternal City because the Romans felt that no matter what happened to the world, Rome would go on forever. But we know only God’s City (Heaven) is eternal! We planted a church in Rome for Italians and international people six years ago. We had been renting facilities but hadn’t been able to find a place that we could rent and use every day of the week and call our church “home.” There was one building that we had tried to rent on several occasions but were told it wasn’t available. But last month, that very building was offered to us for our use 24/7! Praise God, we are so thankful!
The only problem was, we didn’t have equipment fit to use. No adequate sound system, speakers, microphones, piano, or other items that make a church ready and functional. And we didn’t have the money to purchase these items. But BGMC had the funds because boys and girls like you had raised money to help missionaries just like us. Thanks to you, we now have a wonderful sound system and accompanying equipment so people in Italy can hear the Word of God and sing praises to His name.
We have a little girl in our church named Gloria who loves to sing. One day her mother said, “I don’t want to go to church today.” Gloria said, “But I want to go because that is my church and I love it!” So her mother has been faithful to bring her to church every Sunday since then!
We are so thankful for your love for children around the world and missionaries. What a celebration of you for your generosity and giving to help people like us in Italy. And what a celebration for us as we rejoice in your giving to God for His kingdom to be filled with boys and girls and people from all nations. In 2 Corinthians 9:12, it says, “So two good things happen as a result of your gifts—those in need are helped, and they overflow with thanks to God.” Thank you for helping us share God’s Word in Italy! We pray God’s abundant blessings and wisdom for all of you. May God guide and bless you as you serve the missional cause of Christ locally, regionally, and throughout the world.
